Anonymous (13th-14th century) - Instampita Ghaetta
David Munrow, recorder
The Early Music Consort of London/David Munrow
David Munrow was the pioneer in England of the early music revival. A populariser with an eye to entertainment, he was criticised for unscholarly and over-rhythmic interpretations, but without him the revival might never have taken off. After studying Seventeenth Century music he formed the Early Music Consort with Christopher Hogwood and James Bowman. David Munrow was keen on spreading the revivalist gospel and his proselytising activity included projects like The Mediaeval Sounds LP which was a documentary record in which he introduced mediaeval instruments. David Munrow lived under pressure and tragically committed suicide in 1976 at the age of 34. A great many of his recordings, however, are still available.

Yes, he did - I saw him on many occasions. He had such enthusiasm and such energy. I've never seen anyone quite like him since.
