Surrounded by a host of oil-rich nations, Yemen barely makes it into the world's top 30 oil producers - yielding just 380 thousand barrels a day.

That makes it the lowest oil producer of all the Arab countries.

But many Yemenis are convinced that their country's oil wealth isn't being distributed fairly, and that's led to claims of corruption.

Hashem Ahelbarra reports from Sana'a.

  • Governments hiding some dirty secret here

  • I can't wait for all these countries to run out of oil.

Because what do have to sell other than that?

They have lots of carpets and lots of sand...

I have a marketing strategy for them to sell sand! (of course you must use a thick Arab accent)

    Beaches for your bitches!

    What do you think?

  • Yemen can also invest in developing solar&wind energy. 2 of natures elements that Yemen has in abundance year round due to the mountains and climate.......it can energize off of this domestically and sell more petrol....reducing its consumption by a substantial amount. furthermore, develop investment agencies to increase this 1/3- lol-revenue and use that profit to create more companies. Come on Yemen-you guys are slick I know. Let those guys in souq el Mil7h develop it.

    peace/salam

  • @ricoxx2007 my sister was telling me the same thing last week lol

  • @HPWHEELS dude what people get is what they deserve the arabs deserved oil because of what they ve done to the society dont put them down based on it and just to let you know all people in the world have something good to trade

  • i agree waszzam..qat creates a 6 hour working day...people work from 8 til 2 or 3 max then buy their qat and chew it all day and night..what economy can exist like that!60-70% of people are chewing this "drug"..half baked and with no intention on anything else but relaxing..when the oil goes Yemen is in a seriously bad state of affairs!

  • fcking yemen goot stop chewing that goats leaf and wake the fck up we are the poorest nation in the arab world palestine could surpass yemen for all i know all this tribual shit and honor is got to go we need a leader who will lead yemen to prosperity

  • yemen does not need oil to fix it self. What it needs someone from over seas to come back home well educated to walk the streets. To show what he or she well do for the people from the president to the poor sleeping outside. to guide them in the right path that the people want for there families and the country

  • the government is shit man they need a new 1 and kill saleh

  • I agree with you ricoxx2007, we are in dire need of a yemeni revolution for a fair administration that represents the poor and lower middle class, thats willing to combat the corrupt ways of life apparent in our society, but we need more educated yemenies traveling back from abroad, as well as a free media willing to stand by our side of the story.
