Here's a tip I just figured out. You know when you guard it takes time to release right? Well, hold B while guarding so that it is released right after you are hit.

You don't have to hold B down for that to happen. It'll still happen even if you don't hold it down, you just need to move for that to happen (once the shield gets hit).
