A short video Only a quick and basic hand Cast. The whole process must have taken from start to finish Just under an hour at a guess.

Originally I hadn't planned on making a video, but then after filming various bits, I decided to go back and make it a bit more properly constructed.

The final Sculpt it's self turned out alright. A few minor bad bits, like under 3 of the finger tips, this is because air had got in, preventing the plaster to coat the whole of the mould.

Thanks For watching! Blue Poo Productions 2011.

  • @june665 hello :) I'm afraid it's totally slipped my mind ATM, but I'm sure if you search for the mixing ratios in google or somewhere you will get your answer :) personally, the majority of the time now I just make my own ratios up by using my knowledge on what roughly it should be then adjusting during mixing :) and naww thank you, it wasn't intended to neccissarily be instructiional, but if it helped you in any way then I'm glad :)

  • Is there any way to create a cast for a hand and not destroy the cast that way you can create many hands from the same mold?

  • @artsie89 Yes there is essentially :) You can buy things such from 'Smooth-on' (take a look at that website) From what i've seen around..... instead of using alginate, a more expensive, but better in the long run version is something that you can brush onto a face and it dries harmlessly into i supppose a thin but strong rubber negative mask of the model's face/body part. OR, what you could do, is take a cast of a hand..Then create a 2 part mould around the cast of the hand.

  • @artsie89 Have a look around on google and youtube for ways to do things like 2 part mould creation and other bits and bobs. That's how i learn, i'm only 18 and still self teaching everything i do myself :)

  • te faltaron partes de un dedo puntuacion un 2

  • @caroshumy hahaha sí sé que lo hice, hice un pequeño error, pero resolví el problema más adelante con un poco de yeso / polyfilla para esculpir la punta de los dedos:)

  • Would you suggest rubbing vasoline on the hand first so the release for the alginate is simple on demould?

  • Could you tell me which brand of alginate you used? And also many pounds were necessary for this hand project?

  • @shirtcreek Naww thanks for the feedback, means alot :) and erm...I will maybe try in the future..but that particular project wont be soon..working on a fairly complex project atm :)
