Is this the official new live-action trailer for Battlefield 3??......well no. I created this film as a tribute to one of my favourite game franchises and it is meant with the greatest adoration and appreciation! :)
The compositing was done in After Effects, I created the 3D models in Maya and used Photoshop to create the textures and bump maps. 3D assets were rendered with mental ray and the editing was done in Adobe Premiere. I created an updated version of the helicopter model which you can see in my other videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hb2Rt...
(Apparently the game will actually come out in 2011)
I would like to say thank you so much to everyone for watching this film, and for all the positive and constructive comments that people have taken the time to give so generously! They have been very encouraging!
By the way, in response to those who think the film isn't that great and point out all the mistakes with weapons, uniforms and other things that make it look unprofessional I just want to say; yes, I agree, this is clearly not the greatest, most professional film ever made. I only had a few weeks to put the whole thing together, myself, from scratch, for a uni project on war movie VFX, and the time was mainly spent creating and animating the CG assets. There was no budget, the guy in it is not a professional actor, the uniforms were just random stuff I bought on ebay and the guns were some cheap bb guns which I sprayed with black car paint. Yes, I know thats not what a real stinger missile launcher looks like, because thats a plastic poster tube with some random stickers stuck on it. So basically, I know there are tons of errors, well done for spotting them, but to be honest I'm not really interested.
