Chinese automakers are expanding at a rapid pace and one of them is building cars in Iraq of all places. Geely and Volvo are clashing over the direction the safety-conscious Swedish brand should go. GM CEO Dan Akerson adds Lincoln to the long list of brands he's bashed. All that and more, plus we evaluate BMW's fast and fun X5 M.

  • but Ford sucks at China... jeez. Fields have a better chance.

  • Dan Akerson.Toyota Prius might be, a geeky looking car, but where was GM's best selling hybrid cars back in 1997 when the Prius hit the market? And the Chevy Volt just hit the market and has only sold less than like 5000 vehicles since 2010? And costing almost $40,000? That geeky car you refer to has a better resale value than the Volt, and has sold well over 1 million cars! Not bad for a geeky car. And about lincoln hmm, didn't GM go begging for gov't money back in '08? Ford didn't, right?

  • Ok, there needs to be someone else doing reviews of performance European automobiles, instead of craig cole! Last time, he did a review on the Mercedes E63 and it was the worst! And now he's doing the BMW X5M here? Anybody that buys a high performance car, whether it be an suv, sedan, or coupe is not looking to buy it for fuel economy! Hence, the reason for the 6 figure price! And there aren't really any other high performance suvs that can get better fuel economy!

  • @alexscsi my thoughts, exactly! I mean, there's a reason for the M for BMW, performance! And it's a trim level for those that will spend the money to get it!

  • It IS a geek mobile!

  • @Collecian Whitacre was definitely a Temp CEO, there to see GM to their IPO. Lutz I think really wants to just be an adviser, however well received that would be. GM needs a newer younger, early 50s at the oldest, CEO who is willing to learn and do, loves making great product (mainly automobiles), and sees making money as a reward for doing so. Akerson is trying to sell himself to the stockholders as a real go-getter, but the more I hear of him the more I want him out.

  • GM sent him to harvard to obtain his MBA? Was this during Lutz era? we all know how lutz feels about MBA's!

  • @Collecian Yes, we all miss Mr. BOB LUTZ !

  • Can't stan people complaining abou MPG o a BMW M model... Is just retarded.

  • @2Kriss2Kross YES i would never get cought drive'n a Chevy.. their quality is not as good as for.. i own a 06 Fusion and the quality in it is better than the current quality in GMs vehicles
