You can sew double elastics crossed. Some people would take class like that, but there's a long tradition of having ribbons sewn on pointe shoes, certainly for stage.

i just bought some pointe shoes and obviousvly i dont want the ribons on it , is just elastic safe? can i sew it crossed?

You can sew ribbons on the inside through the lining without going through the satin with your needle.

Okay stop bad mouthing the video okay! You can sew it on the inside OR outside. If you sew it on the outside, it prevents blisters. It's the dancers decision on which way she likes it.

Feel bad for the person who has those pointe shoes ..
Sewing on the outside helps prevent blisters and is fine for use in class. Perhaps for stage one would sew them on the inside.
