All dictators are destined to fall one day. No one can win a war if he does not get support from people. Libya is a wealthy country but it's people was too skinny. Gaddafi was killed by it's own people. If he would had a strong internal support no one in earth would had removed him from the power.

I would not deny the western powers had their own interest and it was normal for them to protect them backing the opposition. However essentially this does not change the story. People didn't like him.
