@francaisetproud Berlioz was working on his "La damnation de Faust" and already had an Eastern European tour on the books for the work. His friends and critics suggested that he add a march with a Hungarian theme to please the Hungarian audiences. He did and it was a big success. The melody is Hungarian and has been used by other Hungarian composers such as Franz Liszt. It is a true Hungarian March within a large work by a French composer.

@Hotstepper sorry to inform you that Berlioz was french, and therefore it is "la marche hongroise" and not rackozi march. Just because it has your country's name in it doesn't mean that your title is the correct one.
