Im kinda confused because someone set up my hi-fi and set my pc sound up to the tape preset and it says mono but there is no option to change it to stero :(

OK, great explanation BUT..if the MIC is 1 "pick up" source (making it MONO) and 1 more makes it stereo (in the recording process) then when hearing a LIVE concert...are we HEARING in "stereo" because we have TWO ears (2 pick up sources) and a right & left hemisphere of the brain? This question is obviously more of an anatomical one but is one I'd love an answer to.
This assumes that the speakers (sound) are stationed in FRONT & sound waves are traveling toward us. Thanks! :D

I like to hear fifties and sixties singles in mono because thats the way I heard them in dinar jukeboxes and on AM radio.
