I've always liked this song and singer, even though I was just a boy and didn't know his name. Now I'm 37, and though I haven't heard it in ages, I've sung it to myself thousands of times. This is the first time I've actually heard Billy sing it in about 15 years.

@shaedontluvme That's terrible. I'm so very sorry. My mom cheated on my father after 24 and a half years marriage. My dad was head over heals for her. She smashed his heart to pieces. I was away for a half year, when I left, my dad's hair was blond and slightly white at the edges, and he was muscular and in shape except for his belly. When I came back he was a shadow of his self, all white hair, he lost 80 pounds, and he shook from anxiety because of her.

@chickglenn07 I dont think everybody young thinks like that... Besides, there are other musicians that write and produce their own music without autotune and such. Example: Jason Mraz

Before this song hit, we would be dancing crazy at his gigs, and then they would play this song.
We all would stop and really LISTEN.
Because we knew it was something special. This song would get into our soul.
And then when it hit, in spite of the industry who held Billy down, we felt vindicated.
We KNEW it was awesome.

This song lodged in my head the first time I heard it. And many times after. Vera pours his heart and soul into the song.
If folks enjoy this song so much, I've a recommendation in another time and genre: An epic apology from Mozart's incredible The Marriage of Figaro in the aria "Contessa Perdono". It helps to know the story line, but in the world emotional statements, it rates at the top.
4 : 00 minutes of the best live entertainment you'll ever hear in your life!! Kids today don't understand what it means to have live musicians up there working together to produce a "sound" and it comes out to be something that turns out as great as this ( or another favorite of mine "Running on Empty" ). They are used to having synthesized music and someone rapping over some samples taken from a classic song and calling it talent?!!* This is the real deal!

I can't figure out why this man Billy Vera didn't become a superstar? His voice is flawless.. I can listen to this song everyday and NEVER tire of it. But only if Billy sings it. He's amazing!!
