By "influenced" I meant musically and from the band's inception. In that context, the JA "influence" on SG seems odd, seeing as Perry was in Psi-Com at the time. Hence, my comment about the 2-year window, which, in hindsight, was only 1. But, in the larger sense, JA, as an underground band, were no doubt a HUGE and pioneering "influence" on what would eventually be labeled the ''alternative" genre SG and SP were both at the forefront of... after JA disbanded, of course.

Ritual De Lo Habitual was the first J.A. album i bought. I didn't know much about the band mainly cause of the F**kin radio and it's mainstream bullshit.But when i heard Dave Navarro,i thought this guy is fuckin amazing,one of the best guitarists i've ever heard.The whole band is fantastic,but Dave's style is...i can't explain it,absolutely perfect is one way of putting it.

@Fakename70 I can't believe I put Nirvana. I clearly meant to put Janes Addiction . That would make the second part not make sense, when I say Janes Addiction. I will agree, that is the 1 band I names that was right there at the same time. I will give you that. I am on your side, Nirvana pushed a door down that Janes Addiction had already taken the hinges off of. I remember so many local bands starting to mimic Janes in South Fl. Nirvana came from out of nowhere while Janes were redefining.

I hate myself for getting into this argument here, but...

First off, Nirvana gets far too much "credit" for something they really didn't even do in terms of "redifining music". Second, Explain to me how JA influenced Soundgarden when JA didn't even exist until 2 years after SG was formed and they both released their first records in the same year.

Jane's RULES!! Just so disappointed that Perry doesn't have the chops anymore to sing the tunes in the keys they recorded them in. Takes away from the feel when you have to sing them in a lower register. Remember in the early '90s when he could rip through those high notes? Miss those days!!
