  • @boynamedalexxx Meant to a ask you in my previous responsed to you Night Music comments....do you think "other modern music theater material" actually displays your vocal abilities? I heard so much "screaming and shouting" , can't quite grasp any musical elements anymore except in revivals of older shows.... hardly strong flowing melodic lines....or am I getting old? !

  • @jotheodorou Well, I didn't see "Grey Gardens", but I do KNOW that Ebersole gave one of *those* performances that just grab people. Wish I could've, from all the clips I've seen, she was astonishing.

  • @boynamedalexxx I also saw Erin Davie in "Grey Gardens" (her Broadway debut) she was just fine, but Christine Ebersole's performance was such a whirlwind, she overshadowed everyone. Perception.... it's in the eyes and ears of the beholder.

  • @jotheodorou The character's name is Charlotte. Also, this girl is quite good, but she's not "far superior" to Erin Davie, vocally or otherwise. And this is SONDHEIM we're talking about here; he writes for actors. If you're doing "Night Music" or any other Sondheim material, & your number-one concern is vocals, than you'd probably do well to stick to ALW or other modern music theatre material.

However, all that aside, this girl's good. The Anne's 'eh', but, Charlotte's always a standout role.

  • Wow! Very impressive....I just saw the 2010 Broadway rival (with Bernadette Peters/Elaine Stritch) and also caught in January (with Catharine Zeta Jones/Angela Lansbury) and you are far superior, vocally, to the Carlotta in this production....try to get to NYC and get an agent!

  • :O that was an amazing performance... in many ways i think better than that 1977 movie.
