A glimpse back to the history of 261. Pictures are of 261 from mostly DOD sources, with the exception of the USS New Jersey during Fire Support for 22nd MAU HMM 261 ACE.

  • This tribute was fantastic, thanks for your service! My father was in avionics with 261 towards the end of the 1950's. He will enjoy seeing this!

  • @hotrodblonde Thank you and let your dad know I too served with 261 Avionics.

  • HMM-261 1976-1979 Embark Officer, Flightline Officer, Avionics Officer. Best phrog squadron in the Corps. Best CO, LtCol John Macfarlane, bare none. Semper Fidelis

  • @3000dives We were both under Col Macfarlane at the same time in 76 I believe.

  • Hello Gents,

I just found out that my first fleet squadron is going to be now VMM-261, flying the MV-22 Osprey.

  • You and the squadron have been in my prayers. Stay safe over there.
