A video trailer of the new ultra compact digital cameras from Sony: the NEX-5 and NEX-3. The new digital cameras deliver DSLR performance within a sleek compact body, using a 14.2 megapixel Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor and interchangeable lenses. For the first time in an a camera, the practicality of an ultra compact digital camera is combined with AVCHD video recording for capturing high quality Full HD movies on the go.

With a simple user interface and intuitive controls, capturing DSLR quality pictures has never been easier or more stylish. Plus Sweep Panorama mode allows you to capture amazing wide-angle panoramas with ease (and even in 3D).

The NEX-5 and NEX-3 digital cameras will be available from summer 2010, and further information can be found at: http://www.sony.co.uk/hub/dslr/nex5-nex3

  • I got myself the NEX-3 with the pancake lens...I was wondering ...will there be extra lenses coming out soon? :D

    extremely love my NEX

  • @IzyStoned Thanks for your query, there will indeed! Sony just previewed the prototypes of seven new NEX-compatible E-mount lenses at this year’s Photokina trade show and they are due to be released during 2011 and 2012.

  • What's the name of the song , and is it possible to down load it?

  • @ah57lb Thanks for your query, as the music is original and was made specifically for this video, it isn’t possible to download.

  • I want to ask whats the difference between the 16mm F2.8 lens and the 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 lens? Because I'm planning to get the camera but don't know which one to choose. Thanks!!

  • @LOVEMiruku The 16mm lens is quite thin and sits close to the body of the camera (it is also known as a ‘pancake’ lens). The 18-55mm lens is larger and sticks out of the front of the camera further as it includes an optical zoom, twist the lens and zoom in on your subject without losing any quality. The ‘pancake’ lens is more general purpose and great for shots of family and friends. The 18-55mm is the ideal travel companion, great for capturing open landscapes as well as up close portraits.

  • i dont know much about cameras. should i get the sony 3 or 5...

  • I am thinking about getting an NEX-5 but i cant decide whether to get the NEX-5K or NEX-5H. I mainly shoot urban/architectual style photos with a few still life close ups in between. I'm very into using full manual mode and want to know if its worth to upgrade to the 5H for the extra length. Help me out guys.

  • as the name of that song?

  • Can i use an sd-card and a memorystick pro dou both at the same time in my nex 3? if i do so, how do i get both in the slot?

  • well i found the best custom BAG for sony NEX 3/5. It has an aluminium frame inside so you can drop it and sit on it :) And on the ouside, looks like a regular small wallet bag. So nooen gonna steal your camera. Check it out at: NEXbag.bymac.org

  • When i select playback in the histrogram mode, i notice that the image starts to blink (in form of white patches) in dark areas & bright areas. I wonder if this is normal. Previously i dont think i encounter this before. If this is normal, are there any way to disable this blinking function? thanks!

  • @yin222

Despite the aperture being able to go down to F2.8 on the 16mm, I find the 18-55mm F3.5 lens brighter and better for video.

  • @jonnykurz666 I was told the 16mm is better. I just got a nex which am selling on ebay because I just cant stand silver cameras so I am getting the black one. In the booklet that came with the camera it says the larger lens is suitable for video but for the 16mm it says its optimized for video so that would make it better.

  • Is the smaller lens better for vids or the 18-55 mm One?

  • @sheldonlt It can shoot in 3D panorama mode for viewing on 3D capable TVs.
