@4znPrid3dday Oh yeah. I love The Strokes and The Shins, but both of those bands had already established themselves here BEFORE Mando Diao's first album came out here in the States. From 2003 to 2006 or so, there was a flurry of great Swedish rock bands that emerged. It could have been a movement and the record labels could have capitalized on it, but they didn't. The one that kills me the most is The Caesars. Such a good friggin' band and they only got noticed for "Jerk It Out."

@MattHatter What about The Strokes? or The Shins? The xx? TV on the Radio? The Hold Steady? Not saying that Mando Diao isn't good, but there are a lot of American bands better than them

Saw these guys in Seattle a few years back, and nobody knew them even though they sell out huge venues around Europe. I was able to meet the drummer, shake hands with Bjorn, etc. They put on a kickass show, too. As a fan, I did feel pretty disappointed in the taste of the Seattlelites. Lots of crappy bands here.

These guys are better than practically EVERY American band going in this day and age. There SHOULD HAVE been a Swedish Invasion during the second half of the Millenium with Mando Diao, The Blue Van, The Caesars, etc. But was the American media ready for something like that? HELL NO! Too busy with our R&B and rap drama to give a crap about REAL music. So sad. At least we the fans know who is good.
