Henry Bzeih, Manager, Connected Car, demoes UVO voice command system to journalists at launch of 2011 Kia Optima held in Newport Beach, CA. 09.20-21.10
@Rico8458 : the Optima and the Elantra do not compete with each other. but in answer to your question, the Optima is a better ride than the elantra. The Elantra and the Kia Forte compete with each other and both of these cars have a very similar driving experience. As for the Lancer., Mitsubishi has not made any good cars since ages. Their quality has gone down the drain.
@bigtruckseriesreview That doesn't effect anything since when you use voice commands all sound cuts off. I would be interested to know your driving if your car doesn't operate this way.
Phone numbers are useful. But in most new cars you cannot input things into the GPS without the car at a full stop. If you can in your car Kudos to you, because I can't in mine.
My problem is I keep my music BLASTING 99% of the time. I don't like having to turn it down for anything asides from phone calls. Therefore, buttons are the only logical interface for me. My cars have all types of voice commands - none of which I use.
The only voice commands I love are dialing phone numbers. GPS Navigation NEVER works well enough for me via voice commands.
@bigtruckseriesreview My Mercedes Command system works 99 percent of the time the only time it doesn't is when people are talking next to me. Much better than fiddling with buttons while driving and potentially hitting somebody in city driving. You really have to know the commands before you start using them.

@flatblackstrat
Both of my cars allow input during driving. It's supposed to be for the passenger to handle.
Voice commands can be spoken and the computer turns the radio down or off...problem is, in most cases the HVAC can interrupt voice commands.
The voice command thing just doesn't interest me. I actually prefer to use voice commands on my iPhone4, rather than use the car's interface.
