I use Audacity to demonstrate the audio quality of three basic low cost microphones often used when recording screencasts. These are: 1) low cost analog mic that plugs into the sound card, 2) a head set mic with USB (Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000) 3) an entry level, larger desktop mic with USB (Samson C01U).

  • Thank you very much for this informative video.

I haven't recorded or edited voice recordings since the 1980's when I worked with reel-to-reel recorders for carts.

I am doing some podcasts on jazz history.

    Thanks!

  • Audacity are the most important open source sound editor/recorder .. Very well your video, thanks a lot.

  • Very useful video. Thank you.

  • That's cool. I'm planning getting a Samson co1u and get rid of this not good headset. Also now I learn how to remove noise better. You should do some more audacity tips.
