In my opinion, this is THE BEST film version of Jane Eyre ever made! No other film adaptation comes close.

I remember watching this on tv in the 80s. I was about eleven or twelve. When I got to middle school and I read this story for the first time. It came my third favorite book to read behind Pride and Prejudice and Gone with the Wind.

@femmenik Yes, I was about the same age and both the movie and the music have haunted me through the years. I couldn't believe my luck when I came across a DVD of this movie, but then was immediately disappointed to see so many scenes cut out. This is the first copy I have come across with no cuts. I wish I could find it on DVD for the North American DVD machines as I can only watch this on my small laptop.
