This is an exercise to elicit a reflex or involuntary contraction of the pelvic floor and deep core muscles. It is excellent for postpartum women.

  • Hold as long as you can.

  • This execise is not appropriate in immediate postpartum. Wait 4 to 6 weeks for involution of the uterus. Also people with uncontrolled high blood pressure, pregnant women, and people with ocular pressure issues should not do this exercise.

  • how long do you hold for?

  • This exercise is amazing for conditioning the pelvic floor post birth. I also had an abcess operationa and couldn't do much for 6 weeks - this really helped - Thanks Kaisa!
