Stan Ridgway live: Afghan Forklift PLUS New Song Turn A Blind Eye

First is (just missing the first little bit) "Afghan Forklift" from my favorite album of his, "Snakebite". Then, a new number titled "Turn A Blind Eye", from his upcoming album--not sure what the title is yet, but it's out there, and nervous distributors and the economy willin', it'll be in our hands by sometime in the fall. This was all recorded live at the beautifully Victorian Palms Playhouse in Winters, CA, August 1st 2009--a powerful show in the perfect, intimate venue WITH a killer steakhouse and bar just steps away....ah, if there is any justice in the universe, the afterlife might be like this! Now, I love this new number. Yep, it's another tasty little tidbit of savory musical genius from the man I personally consider America's most ludicrously, no, CRIMINALLY underappreciated singer-songwriter. Simply put, Stan is up there with the greats. Perhaps someday the rest of this big dumb country will notice. (Personally, I could feel a bit torn, because then his shows will be a pain in the butt to get tickets for and I'd never get the chance to say hi again, but frankly, it'd be worth it to see Stan overwhelmed with well-deserved glory and free beer for life.) Pardon the wiggly camera in a couple of spots; middle-aged (gah!) though I may be, I STILL find it damn hard to sit still while Stan, Pietra and Rick play their hearts out! it was worth it to have a record of this, though.
