  • this is fuckin' great!!!

You are correct, Sir. Bon Jovi is a but a small naive child in Neil Young's RnR world. The vocals are weak (and I'm being generous here) and the lead guitar is just amateurish. To their credit, at least Jon got most of the lyrics right in this particular version.

  • Wicked great! Our band just started covering this. Check it out on our page!

BJ does their original stuff very well & I respect them for those efforts. My main point is that I do not believe they play covers very well & their versions of classics by Neil, John Fogerty, Simon & Garfunkle, etc. are sub par. Their sound is their sound & it does not translates very well..

Neil Young is a serious artist who is highly regarded as a genius and a legend by not only fans, but by the industry and peers as well.

Peace and Keep On Rockin' In The Free World.

  • @wallacecd Well, I respect your opinion, but totally disagree. You pulling out Rolling Stone means nothing, because RS is a farce in the music business. It means nothing anymore. The guys in Bon Jovi can play circles around Neil Young and his band. When it comes to vocals, sure, it's all up to what you want to listen to. You choose Neil and I choose Jon. And Bon Jovi covers paling in comparison to the originals? Hmmm... to each his own.

  • @PrettierThanMatt

I understand you like BonJovi and their sound. But, IMHO, every cover I have ever heard them do has paled terribly in comparison to the original versions. Bon Jovi should not be classified as Rock 'n roll; they are a pop band.

It is silly to say that Neil Young is not a good musician. Rolling Stone Magazine ranked Neil Young as #34 in their recent list of the 100 Greatest Artists Of All Time for good reasons. You won't find Bon Jovi on that list. Again, for good reasons.

  • @wallacecd With respect to you of course, I can't agree. This is the weakest Jovi version, lead guitar-wise, that I've heard, but to say Neil Young's is better is whack to me. I know it's his song, and he's a great writer, but I've never thought of him as being "good" as a musician... more like creative. I'm tired, so I can't explain, but I think Bon Jovi, the whole band, plays circles around the original.

  • @guitarman622321 this version is fucking horrible lol. it's like some kind of pop metal version. my goodness...

  • with all due respect to neil young, jon's version is a million times better

  • what a rocker jon!!

  • Great! wooohoo
