Russia is experiencing a dynamic consumer boom. Millions of citizens today can afford to shop until they drop - like their western peers. And at the moment, there appears to be no end in sight. But Russia's economic miracle is not without complications. Inflation, growing income disparity, limited savings, and the persistence of corruption are challenges to be overcome.

  • Russia - the economic miracle of all-time

  • In big and middle-size cities the picture looks about the same all over Russia. But in many small towns and rural areas people still live in poverty, especially the pensioners.

  • The poverty level is 50% not 15%. Modern Russia resembles the Shah's Iran of the 1970's. To Putin's credit he has taken the oil windfall and has been prudent with it. Brezhnev squandered the first oil boom money of the 1970's away on useless projects.

  • Canada is So is Sweden

  • Thats what Capitalism is doing, its like this, people want to buy useless things that make them happy, the money goes to the company selling them, that company pays taxes, taxes are used on developing the country, basically everyone wins. Besides havent you noticed how much Russias technology expanded, how much living conditions improved, and how much richer Russia became using Capitalism?

  • Russia Chna India and Indonesia is the future and the west is the past we say god bay to USA and to EU

  • fuck Capitalism

instead of individualist decadent consumerism, Russia's new wealth should be spent developing the country, on science, factories, farms, culture, not fashion clothes, junk food and DVDs.

  • It looks like Russia could be on the verge of greatness. Hopefully the government, businesses and middle class won't mess it up by squandering their wealth on temporary gain and losing this opportunity.
