Bengall Cast Steel straight razor
Honed using;
(No tape)
Shapton Glass 220
Chosera 1K
2 layers of tape (tape used to speed up the process, compensate for some of the unevenness in the spine & to increase the angle to give the softish steel a bit more support.)
Coticule (La Grosse Blanche) dilucot method
HandAmerican CrOx on kangaroo
Ken Schwartz 0.1 CBN on nano-cloth
Very nice shave!
Smooth & different...in a good way!
This almost 200 year old steel is quite something.
It was an honor to hone & shave with a true Family Heirloom!

You should REALLY use electrical tape....even double it it you are doing more work..saves honewear for the future owner :-)

@jrcrow79
It had a very worn edge & uneven spine/honewear.
By setting a really good bevel on this one without tape I saved the future owner a lot of grief. Using tape from the beginning would just have screwed up the geometry even more.
I see this a lot on old wedges. Folks claim they "don''t get as sharp as a full hollow" well, no doubt, since the angle is way out of proportion.
This now has a healthy 17degree/side & w/ 2 layers of tape for the work after the bevel is set ~19 degrees
