As easy as it looks on paper ,it actually takes a lot of repetition until it starts to sound nice.Adding a little vibrato for each chord played and trying to keep melody notes vibrating as long as possible is key here.

Played without nails and than with.(harsh sound is due the youtube compression)
You can hear how melody on high e is much more separated from arpeggios if played with nails.
And also it takes almost minimum effort to produce sound on high e with nails.Without nails you really must use force with "a" finger

Without nails, though ocassionaly I leave my 'a' (next to pinky) finger nail uncut and and it's really much easier to produce sound than, especially in songs with arpeggios like this one or Spanish romanze and such

    Thanks for watching :)

  • So what was your decision...to play with or without nails. I have done both, and studied with Hector Garcia, and only play for the past 20 years without nails...and will never go back. The sound of flesh is incredibly pure, and a really good guitar aids the effort. Best to you!
