I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more.
I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more.
I wake in the morning,
Fold my hands and pray for rain.
I got a head full of ideas
That are drivin' me insane.
It's a shame the way she makes me scrub the floor.
I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more.

I ain't gonna work for Maggie's brother no more.
I ain't gonna work for Maggie's brother no more.
He hands you a nickel,
He hands you a dime,
He asks you with a grin
If you're havin' a good time,
Then he fines you every time you slam the door.
I ain't gonna work for Maggie's brother no more.

I ain't gonna work for Maggie's pa no more.
No, I ain't gonna work for Maggie's pa no more.
Well, he puts his cigar
Out in your face just for kicks.
His bedroom window
It is made out of bricks.
The F P G stands around his door.
That's why I ain't gonna work for Maggie's pa no more.

(Instrumental)

I ain't gonna work for Maggie's ma no more.
No, I ain't gonna work for Maggie's ma no more.
Well, she talks to all the servants
About man and God and law.
Everybody says
She's the brains behind pa.
She's sixty-eight, but she says she's twenty-four.
I ain't gonna work for Maggie's ma no more.

I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more.
I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more.
We ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more.

  • Paul Jones doesn't have to think his band is the Rolling Stones cause he knows he was the first choice to be a Rolling Stone before a Mick Jagger came along!! Oh yeah and HE can sing!

  • Great Band

  • Great Post.*****Thumbs up

  • When a was Young Amazing

  • @echofilms : Well I notice Hughie Flint has only one rack tom-tom here instead of his customary two - just like Charlie Watts. But hang on: what was that other band that had a left-handed bassist ........ ?

  • it's all good....

  • This is great! I saw the '90's lineup of The Blues Band down at the Irvine Magnum Theatre many moons ago. Also caught The Manfreds live there as well (as i recall) back in the day.

    Cheers for posting.

  • was this the end song in The Other Guys?

  • Maggie dislike it :D respect from Serbia :D

  • @wreckedroy It's very possible that Brian Jones talked to him before the lineup was finalized, since Paul, Brian, and (I think) Keith all sat in with Blues Incorporated, which included Charlie Watts and Ian Stewart as members. Paul Jones also played with Brian in The Roosters. Mick and Keith knew each other and had played together previously, but the group itself was started by Brian and Ian, who auditioned other members.

  • stonking rendition! i person dont wanna work on maggies farm too.

  • @lilalu222 You don't know what you're talking about. Paul Jones was never asked to join the Stones, and as the Stones were formed by Mick & Keith it would be impossible to be asked to join before Mick?!

I like this version but prefer Dylans or even RATM.
