Dumb snakes; when we think of pets we often want to compare their intelligence to other pets like cats and dogs. The truth is not ever pet can learn tricks like a dog, but does that make them stupid? Snakes and other reptiles do not have the same intelligence as dogs or most mammals, but there are some atvantages to that as well. Lets take a look at why snakes aren't as smart and why we should still love them!

SnakeBytesTV is a weekly series featuring all kinds of snakes, reptiles and other extreme or dangerous animals. Sometimes we get attacked or suffer painful snake bites, but mostly we answer your questions and provide you with exciting and interesting information. SnakeBytesTV is produced by BHB Reptiles, one of the worlds largest snake breeding facilities, and is hosted by Brian Barczyk. New episodes every Wednesday!

  • i challenge chewy to put as much food as much in your mouth as possible like a snake and by the way hi guys and love your show!

  • I challenge chewy to put a rat snake down his pants for 45 seconds!

  • @thenextsyndacte if you put lots of little hides and fake plants and maybe even two waterbowls in there, she should be good. you can try some different shaped hides (some snakes like round hides and some snakes like more longer hides because some snakes find it easier to get into them) and put an inch or two of substrate if the snake llikes to burrow. just observe it and tend to its needs. if u give it something 2 climb on, then make sure the lid is on tight :)

  • @thenextsyndacte i hate how he screams and jump like crazy then the snakes get the hell scared outta them and when they go to bite chewy he like drops em or rips their teeth out and he even does that with the baby snakes and chondros which have very very fragile bones and it makes me so upset and angry the way he treats them like that and that nobody in the clan does anything about it :(((((

  • i have a ? i have a pebulin milk snake and she is in a 20 gallon tanke she is onl about a foot and 3cm is tht to big or not i really dont want to streess her out.

  • @pythonmajestic i not like wtf poor snakes i fell bad for them if he wasnt holding them wrong and supporting there backs they wouldnt bite and he wouldnt drop them poor snakes

  • stupid ass chewy :( poor snakes he always drops them and rips their teeth out :((((

  • It definitely varies, ive run into dogs that are stupider than the dumbest snake while other dogs are very smart lol!

  • @shawnalexandre100 That's all very obvious. I was saying that a lot people stress a little TOO much about putting a snake in a tank that's too big and make it seem like it's going to be detrimental to their health and mental stability. The real reason to keep an adequately sized tank is just because there's no need to take up the space if your snake doesn't need it, not because it's gonna make them crazy.

  • My 3-4 year old Ball Python suprised me one day when I was trying to feed her a thawed rat. I've always fed her frozen, except the first year when I got her used to thawed food. I had heated it and sprayed her favorite spray on, and as normal she smelt it and coiled up. I dangled it in front of her for half an hour trying to imitate an alive rat, going between heating it more and spraying it, when I finally gave up and set it on her log. She immediately started eating without even "killing" it.
