His criticism hit Nick like a knife on his chest, it just didn't matter how much he tried to be perfect, his father would always find something wrong with him. Always. Selena easily noticed the pain in Nick's eyes "Well, I think you look very handsome" she added quickly with a smile. "A real business man" she locked arms with Nick and she could've sworn she saw Nick's eyes shine.


"Ah" Nick's dad said unimpressed "The girl who's name I do not know"


Selena kept smiling even tho she could tell she had pissed off Mr. Jonas with her smart comment. "Selena, Selena Gomez" she said extending her free arm to him.


Mr. Jonas' expression softened and he took her hand with both of his hands "beautiful" he said before kissing it "Sassy, funny, and beautiful" he laughed "Why are you with my son again?"


"Very funny dad" Nick said with a weary smile "Why don't we all talk while we eat. I'm starving"


Nick's dad claps his hands loudly "Yes!" he exhaled "I am with my son in this one. Lets eat" He began walking towards the table.


Selena was about to follow him when Nick gently pulled her back to him "Thank you" he whispers lowly, but Selena could've gotten his message by just looking at his eyes.


"No problem" she stutters before walking off to seat next to Nick's dad.


Nick's dad was sitting on the end of the table and Nick was supposed to seat at the other side of his father, but he surprised both Selena and him by seating next to Selena. "Wow Nicholas" his father commented setting his elbows on the table. "You must really like this girl, you're blowing me off to seat by her"


Nick sighs rolling his eyes "Dad I'm not blowing you off, I'm right here"


"Yea, I see that, so how long have you known each other?" he asked raising a bushy eyebrow curiously.


Selena shrugged "A couple of days" she said easily making Nick's nervous eyes turn to her.


"Days?" Mr. Jonas Repeats curiously "and you're this serious? Wow. Must've been love at first sight." He commented laughing happily.


Selena smiles and Nick watches her in amusement. "I'll go get the lasagna" She gets up and walks to the kitchen.


Mr. Jonas watches Selena as she walks to the kitchen, then he turns to his son, he searches his eyes carefully. They stare at each other for a long time before he turns to Selena once again "Lasagna, well that is one of my favorite dishes."


Selena giggles bringing the food at the table "Well, I don't like to brag, but I am an amazing cook" she sets the plate down and takes her place next to Nick "And since you are such a critic, I would love to hear your opinion."


Mr. Jonas raised his eyebrows and Nick smiled knowing he was impressed by Selena. "Where did you two meet again?" He asks taking a plate with lasagna that Selena served him.


"Starbucks" Nick said, but at the same exact time Selena had said "The library"


Mr. Jonas' smiled widened "I knew it"
