  • @megamanthehitman Wait until I make a video of the Sarangi. That's an instrument from another planet!

  • @SpiritofDevotion well thats different , but it sounds cool. I like unusal things. It seems more like a violin I guess it will be like learning all over agian.

  • @megamanthehitman It can't be played with many chords like western music, it would be much more like solo, or like the song in this video. So it would require a very different kind of training and practice. More like a violin. It is certainly much harder, but you can get the tuning right. With the frets it is almost impossible since they are not adjustable.

  • @ChristianAMR I have very little classical training, but I haven't been able to understand how Rāgas are derived from the Jatis in Natya-Sastra. Maybe you know?

  • @SpiritofDevotion ah thats cool. Fretless seems very difficulty to play. I am playing classical to get the oud like sound and I kinda get lost without the dots.

  • @Gauraonline I have mostly learned online and by hearing great artists of the past. It will take some time. When your hearing is purified by spiritual practice, you won't have much problem finding the notes with the fretless guitar. The trick is to establish oneself in the mode of goodness to be able to do it by ear.

  • Who did you have the fortune to study the concept of raga from ? I have a Mac, but I am "afraid" of the learning curve that may exist for Logic Pro. Yes, I can understand that frets may limit things, but you have to really know where you are on the neck to play without frets, dont you find ?

  • @ChristianAMR

    Cont.

Ps : Multani really has a specific pattern of notes , that defines it . So maybe another similar raga would fit better ... But to ascertain and investigate that , would take more time and dedication .

  • @Gauraonline

Sorry to get into the conversation !

But from what I hear , it could be a raga pertaining to Todi thaat . Multani is a well-known raga that has this same set of notes ( though there are some other ragas , who would fit in also ) . However , since this song also includes komal ni and shuddha ga sometimes , it would maybe be some kind of mixed " mishra " raga ; maybe " Mishra Multani " .

  • @Gauraonline Unfortunately I'm still learning and don't have any name for the rāga. The backing tracks I did with Logic Pro software, they are mostly loops.

Indians are very much attracted to guitar, but they should understand that with fretboard they lose the capacity of expression in music. If one simply takes the frets off, then it will sound again very nice.
