In this 1983 interview, Conversations host Harry Kreisler welcomes one of America's most distinguished journalists Tom Wicker for a discussion of the Presidency and the media at the height of the Cold War. Series: Conversations with History [Public Affairs] [Show ID: 9149]
An interesting discussion with Tom Wicker, at the end of which they touch upon the incident where a Korean airliner was shot down by the Russians when it strayed over Soviet territory. Wicker didn't fully realize then that it was indeed on a spy mission, a horrible misjudgement by officials within our government who understood the paranoia previously exhibited by the Russians over such incursions. It was one of the most brutal incidents of the Cold War.
