On July 5, 2009 the Charleston Waterkeeper, the Charleston Explorer and a handful of committed and patriotic individuals removed over 1,000 pounds of trash off of Morris Island. The litter was a result of 4th of July festivities on the island the day before.

  • We were here less than 2 weeks ago & really enjoyed the island. It was trash-free when we were there & we left it as we found it. Hope everyone else does the same! We enjoyed the peace and the natural, unspoiled environment. We found lots of beautiful, whole sand dollars....a wonderful memento of our visit to Morris Island. Thanks for your efforts!!!!

  • Thats rediculous! Fucking red neck pigs. God I hate Country Music!

  • This is exactly why it should be declared as a wildlife refuge and people should not be allowed to drink on it!

  • Bravo for your efforts. It's a shame that people can be so thoughtless, careless and irresponsible that they leave their trash on our islands.
