  • If someone who knows what they're doing does it, it should be fine. Craig was so gentle and patient. That's what it takes. Also someone who knows how to diffuse a dangerous situation.

  • I searched "Craig Cameron" as he is coming to our State's horse fair this year. Not being familiar with his methods at all I wanted to see if his clinic would be something I would like to go watch. Could you explain to me what he is trying to accomplish and why he laid her down?

  • @WPTrainer80

He is laying her down to relax her and gain trust.

  • It is fascinating isn't it? And yes, I think Cali is beautiful too, but I'm totally in love with her!

  • Thanks for the comment. I found the experience moving as well. And I am fascinated every time I watch it.

  • @WPTrainer80 If you want to learn to be a good horseman, Craig Cameron is considered one of the best in the world. What he is doing is 1st teaching that horse to surrender to pressure at the foot, he pulls a little, she steps, he rewards. Soon, if that horse got caught in a rope, she would go Forward, Not Back! He lifts, she softens, he rewards. A little different than how I teach, but he is suggesting and she is responding. Check our clips.

  • Hey Craig! We're living in the 21 Century! Are you stuck in 1880? This is all, but has nothing to do with Horsemanship! However, it is great that you work this way! You make me a rich man, because I've lots of "human-made" problems to solve as long as people train horses like you do! Thank you!

  • oh , i wish that would go with my horse , but she just panics and jump around with 3 feets .......

  • @TheCrazyHorseLady not how it works the horse has to show all the signs of submission before the join up or it won't work :)

  • @TheCrazyHorseLady if it simply laid down then what is the purpose of roping a leg up to unbalance it? There wouldn't be one, the horse doesn't lay down because it is calm it lays down because the front legs are weak and one certainly can't hold the weight for too long and no matter how used to the rope the horse is it is still on 3 legs and being pulled over no matter how slowly it is done, also join up works if done properly people think 'oh my horse is following we joined up' but thats...

  • @DeathKitty123456 all of that has been tried with her, nothing is getting through sadly. and there is nothing wrong with this when done properly, like it was in this vid. the horse is relaxed and in no pain. it did not fall down either, it laid down. a lot of work was put into getting this horse used to the rope on the leg so that it would not freak out and get itself or the handler into trouble.

  • @cathythaler yep i agree forcing a horse to lay down with a hobble gains there trust -.- uh huh more like forces them to submit join up gains their trust not pulling them over when they are unbalanced...

  • @TheCrazyHorseLady try join up and monty roberts theories, they work great, if someone hurt my horse in this way i would tie their leg up and pull them over so they had to fall down cos' they couldn't balance, there are a million good ways to 'fix' horses with problems and this isn't one of them...

  • thank you for putting this vid up! I have been a bit nervous because my mare might have to be layed down this summer because nothing seems to be working to get her to calm down and trust. so I've been looking around for vids of it and have to say that this one is the best!! some of the other ones were utterly horrifying but this one is so gentle that it eases some of my fears!! I love my mare so much and don't want her to be hurt but something has to change!
