@JJLL90 Come May and I will have been doing it for four years. Same deal. My Instructer tells us to always have your guard up, no matter how big or small the person you're fighting is.

@mrc404 some people do it to bait...create the illusion that you are open...but i wouldnt recommend it to beginners, nor would i recommend trying it for the first time at a competition. doesn't matter what it is (tkd, soccer or even war) trying new techniques you've only heard about and not practised and you're just asking for trouble.

@mrc404 Ive taken TKD for 11 year the reason why i/we put our hands down is because in my personal opinion it just looks like your open so the enemy jumps in and your master tells you to keep your hands up because you are a beggininer

omfg those guys who went k-o had no defense there arms where waaaaaayyy too low..i practise tkd for 7 years and every day my teacher said guard you're self with you're hands everytime you do a move!

I know, I've been practicing it for 5 years now, and our teacher never lets us put our guard down, yet on the Tae Kwon Do olympics I always see them with the arms hanging low wtf?

Yes that true , i've been practicing TKD for 8 years . we must always keep that hands up for guard , but if u put them down your next move will be fast . here an advice : when you're making ur move the firt kick with the hands up and the second with hands down . try and see
