the video's quite complicated but when you watch it carefully more than 2 times, it's understood!
the girl paul's with has gone with another man, and to make matters worse, they mess up his hotel room, leaving pictures of her and writings on the wall.
that's why it fits with the line
"baby you played my heart, but the way you played, it was art."
