Peggy Lee wasn't just a great singer - she was a great *artist.*
She was also very smart. One evening, sitting at a dinner party next to Albert Einstein, she started to make small talk about a theory she had as regards the relationship between color and sound.
The next day Einstein sent her a note thanking her for her charming company ... and in his note The Great Man indicated that he found Peggy's theory "very interesting."
Wow!

Toots was full of fire and fun, impressively relaxed as he joyously shreds in his bebop lines comparably as great in his genre as Hendrix doing guitar, Piazolla making Tangos, Sousa marching or anyone doing the work and earning the rewards. Respect, fame, maybe some fortune, but THE man to jam with on Jazz 'Harp.' Can someone dump The View and get some live jazz back on a regularly scheduled TV show again? Yeah, s'what I thought.
