One of my favourite movies starring Tom Cruise and Ken Watanabe.

This movie not only you learn about the culture of the samurai but also there was a quote that made me patriotic and more love towards my country.

The quote was "We have railroad, cannon and western clothing, but we cannot forget who we are and where we come from,"

seriously what Meiji said was true !!

so to people whom i know who went to Japan and forgotten your roots well here is something from ur land of rising sun !!

**************************************

  • As inspiring as the emperor's words are; the sad fact is, many countries all over the world are forgetting who they are (i.e. their culture, history and traditions.) Even Japan's now somewhat guilty in forgetting their old ways.

The beautiful Geisha are a rare sight, the samurai teaching have been forgotten and many of the country's beautiful temples have probably been plowed down due to the recent quake or the ever-growing cityscape. But that's me; please correct me (nicely,) if I'm wrong

  • yeah! i remembered these dialogues for almost 7 years...!

Emporer: Tell Me How He Died...!

Nathan Algren(Tom Cruse): I'll Tell You How He Lived!

  • No give a better scene

  • I wont tell you how he died, I will tell you how he lived...

    Best line ever love it.

  • damn tears

  • it is true verry *sniff* :'( i will always love what japan has to offer but to become japanese u have to devote ur life so ur children are japanese... i love what the movie has shown...

  • Having watched the movie thousands of times and being my favorite of them all, you can just see it in Nathan's face all the time he spent with Katsumoto and his people and how much his life changed and how much he learned.. and all of it died just to make the emperor open his eyes to where they came from and honor it ..!
