We're new to YouTube when it comes to putting videos on (as our YouTube name suggests). This is actually our first video. We're trying several different things in the Topsy Turvy hangers. If anyone has any advice, feel free to leave a post. Thanks in advance!

  • Put your plants in the ground, water goes down by way of gravity, the roots follow naturally, the roots stay cool in the ground and you have plenty of food, quite simple really...

  • @buckley1111 It may be simple, but I didn't want to grow them in the ground. The whole idea was to do a container garden, but thanx for watching and commenting.

  • I'm too lazy to read through the comments, but for tomatoes, you want to pick a plant with no fruit or flowers on it. Bury it very deep and leave about 2 sets of leaves sticking out of the dirt. Be sure to keep them from between those plastic flaps; they pinch. The tomato plant will develop roots along the stem buried in the soil and it will make a stronger plant. If you look at my video of my porch garden, the tomato I eat is small and the plant is puny because it had fruit when I planted it.

  • @LadyWeasel THANX!!!

  • Hi! If the leaves are brown, the plant needs more water. If the leaves are yellow, you need to water less. You should remove the twigs and rocks from the soil. The roots can't deal with them. Good Luck! Jack

  • Add some epsom salts every week or two, acts as a complete fert and will boost overall growth and yield. Say 2 tbs per gallon. Also add unsulphered molasses at 2 tbs per gallon that will drive your produce to intake carbs at a much higher rate increasing overall growth and making it quite sweet. Don't use time release ferts. Superthrive works wonders. Based off of looking at your plants buy some transplants and start over, keep the soil light with perlite. Add some dolemite to the soil good luck

  • If you want to do container gardening, start searching for home made self watering containers.

  • Hi, What is the recommended feeding schedule? Just water? I am a hydro man. Nobody (I have not read all the comments) seems to mention nutes? Just water? Really?

Great job! I am inspired to do something this summer, similar set up.

  • I just watched Jason's upside down garden video & he has an amazing garden! He said that strawberries never do well the first year! So, I hope you're having luck now! :))

  • Water water water. Thats it.

  • @Yewtoobnube...Looking at the upsidedown system my first concern would be to keep the roots somewhat cool by maybe wrapping the containers with some bubble wrap or something along those lines. Hanging like that in the summerheat without some protection would seem difficult for the rootsystem to thrive in, just my opinion.

  • @Yewtoobnube....I wasn't trying to sound like a know it all my friend, I am an old gardener/landscaper and I have an admiration for natures simplicity. People kill more plants with kindness by overwatering and over feeding. New methods are interesting, but millions of years of evolution has made plantlife pretty predictable if you don't love em to death:)

  • @LadyWeasel Now that the fruit is gone, I'm hoping it will grow more. I also water mine every day at least once and fertilize every so often.
