How a Harbor Freight solar kit charge controller works. The main controller is a LM393 dual potential comparator. The 3V supply and 9V supply are both MC34063 based buck converters. The USB supply and 6V supply use a single LM2576-5.0 buck converter driver (about 5.5V measured). The switching MOSFETs for the low battery disconnect and the full charge array cutoff are IRFZ44Ns. Also note that all of the resistors are supposedly 1% tolerance resistors. Whatever manufacturer made this (likely Shenzhen Topray, as they make the PV modules supplied with the kit) likely used off spec 1% tolerance resistors as they are dirt cheap (5,000 for at most 5 bucks) on the Chinese market, but can be used in this application as most electronics of this grade only need 5% tolerance resistors.
