  • What rod are you using in the first catch

  • @TheAudbod123 That was an Ugly Stik Custom 12-20 Rod....

  • Hi, I was just wondering if you or anyone else out there knows what kind of rod & reel was used in the filming of JAWS. I can see that it is a Penn reel & Fenwick rod but I have no idea of what size, model etc.,. I'm Just curious, any information will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks everyone :)

  • @75tm400 I will have to watch it again.... I cannot remember but It sure seems like it was some kind of Fenwck Rod with like a 12-16/0 Reel.

  • The Reel used in Jaws was a 16/0 Penn reel.

  • Hay nice video can u please respond im getting a penn reel with a line counter and was wondering how to caast with out it backlashing thanks

  • @75tm400 and Ritchie:

The reel was the Penn 16/0 and the rod is a Fenwick. Despite numerous emails to Fenwick, no one has responded to answer which rod was used. However, I did find the original gear along with the harness used by Quint for sale and have sent email for answers. I have a 16/0 and wanted to set up a duplicate setup so next up is finding the harness.

  • Hi, I just bought a Penn 50vsx reel and I need some help with the "Push-To-Turn" knob. When setting the drag why wouldnt I just use the lever and move it to adjust the drag? What is the preset knob for and how do I test what it's set at?

  • Had the same thing happen to me in Mexico.

  • @SecretCreed I know, Right? What people don't see here also is that we;ve already been through a 5-8 minute fight with the fish and it's fun even with heavier rods. Fighting huge reds against the 2-3 knot currents on the GA coast is BRUTAL even on these 20-50 rods. We want those Red fish to live and be the least fatigued as possible. Glad someone else understands it.
