One of the tracks from the Decca stereophonic LP "The World Of Dudley Moore", released circa 1965/1966 (not 1972, as stated in the video).
Dudley Moore is on piano, with his regular Trio members, Chris Karan (drums) and Pete McGurk (bass).

For the technically-minded:-
The vinyl was played on a Garrard Zero-100 tangential turntable utilising a Shure M7OBX magnetic cartridge.
The analogue signal was then input via a NAD PP3 USB Preamp to my HP Pavilion laptop running Windows XP.
The sound was recorded as a WAV file using VinylStudio and then converted to an MP3 using GoldWave editing suite.

The final MP4 file was created with VideoPad video editor before uploading to You Tube.

Other music files that I have recorded from various obscure 1960's and 1970's vinyl LP's may be found here by searching for 'hcrun'.

  • No worries - if it was pre-68 then it will most likely be Peter. Beyond The Fringe and Authentic Dud are excellent albums that feature Dudley with Chris and Peter - I'm guessing you probably have them. Cheers, James

James, I have both those albums - original vinyls.

I think I have most, if not all, of the LPs that featured the original trio.

I loved their style and Dud's piano and one of the saddest days of my life was attending his performance here in Canberra in the 1990s when he was in the initial - yet to be diagnosed - stages of his SNP affliction.

Many thanks for your feedback and interest.

  • That's not Pete McGurk on bass - the photos are not of Peter (who was my uncle), and he sadly died in 1968, so unless early recordings are included this would not be him in 1970.

    Thank you for your comment.

As far as I could determine, the actual tracks on this LP featured Pete as the bass player, as they were recorded before his death. This album was issued in 1965 (not 1972, as I have incorrectly stated on the information) and the follow-up Vol. 2 released a year later.

The photo of the group that I've used in the video component is just a snapshot picked from the thousands on the internet.

  • Renditions of old, classic songs are to do. Mama Cass did it with "Dream a Little Dream", Brazil 66 did it with "Fool on the Hill", and Stevie Wonder did it with "For Once in My Life" even out-doing Tony Bennert's version. Ever since Victor Borge did that famous "Autumn Leaves" skit with Robert Merrill with the leaves raining down on Robert Merrill's head, I couldn't take this song seriously-- that is, until now.

    Bravo!
