Loving Monica (Original) - for my wife

© 2008 --- Tuning: DADF#AD --- I recorded this video on 13-Feb-08 as a Valentine's Day gift for my wife. In this video, I perform my original instrumental guitar composition "Loving Monica".


ABOUT THE TECHNIQUES
--------------------------------------------------------------
I play the guitar fingerstyle in the altered tuning indicated above. I apply false and slap harmonics and tappings. The effects I use for the audio are EQ, reverb and a touch of chorus recorded in stereo.


ABOUT THE COMPOSITION
--------------------------------------------------------------
I composed this song early 2005 as a love tune dedicated to my wife. This was after I had composed an instrumental for my daughter, so to keep the peace at home I had to compose one for my other girl too; i.e., my wife (just kidding).

To me, this composition is reminiscent of Venice, Italy. When I play it, I imagine my wife and me riding together in a gondola through the canals of Venice. These musical images in my mind became reality in June 2005 during a vacation trip to Europe. We got to ride on a gondola and my wife made me hum this tune to her since I hadn't brought my guitar. That didn't make the gondolier too happy since I sing terribly and he could sing beautifully.

As you watch this video and listen to this love song, imagine yourself spending a romantic afternoon with the one you love, riding a gondola through the canals of Venice, Italy. Happy Valentine's Day!
