  • Actually this is a Romanian traditional song collected by George Enescu (the greatest Romanian composer, musician and violinist) and Grigoras Dinicu. They didn't compose it, but we owe them the revival of this song revival.

Good for you, this song it's not an easy task!

  • @bamaria2010 the origin of this song is somewhat ambiguous. In fact several popular sources like Wikipedia have been found to contain incorrect information. We have asked various music scholars who have looked into the history of the song and the information we have written is the most accurate that could be found 3 years ago based on credible sources. We would however be interested in finding out if there are other sources which say otherwise.

  • Sorry, I didn't click dislike as I didn't want to upset a perfect 100% score as voted by people. Though, without trying to sound mean,to me this serves as yet another confirmation that only Jasha Heifetz and Romanian violinists can play Romanian violin music.

  • To be exact, this song is written by Ciprian Porumbescu. It was made popular by Angheluş Dinicu and his grandson, Grigoraş Dinicu... Nevertheless, it is a masterpiece, and this is a great performance.
