FALMOUTH - An East Falmouth man flown to a Boston hospital after his motorcycle crashed into a pickup truck this morning in Falmouth has died, officials said this afternoon.

Police said Alan Hurwitz, 52, died this afternoon of injuries sustained when his motorcycle crashed into a pickup truck at the intersection of Turner and Thomas B. Landers roads at about 8 a.m.

Following the accident Hurwitz was flown to Massachusetts General Hospital by MedFlight helicopter, but he died a few hours later, according to a Falmouth fire official.

According to police, Hurwitz was attempting to turn left from Turner Road onto Thomas B. Landers Road - where the two intersect - when his motorcycle crossed over the yellow line and slammed into the front of an oversized pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction. Police found Hurwitz lying on the ground when they arrived.

Hurwitz was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said, but provided no further information about the cause of the accident. Members of the Falmouth Police Department assigned to the Cape Cod Regional Crash Reconstruction Team are still investigating the accident, said police.

The name of the truck driver has not been released.

  • nice med flight helicopter at a motorcycle vs truck accident by souljaboy aaron

  • sending wishes to Alans family and Alan rest in peace

  • The accident could not have happened the way it is reported. If you look where the damage is on the front of the truck, it is obvious he hit the motorcycle victim when he was already in the road on the right side. The truck was coming out of a blind and probably noticed Alan at the last minute and COULD NOT STOP. The damage is to the back of the motorcycle which clearly indicates he made his turn and the truck rammed into the back of the motorcycle.

Prayers to the family. God Bless, Alan.

  • RIP Alan you have been a great friend to my family and never be forgotten. Me and my mom Gloria will always remember you and have you in our thoughts.
