Actually animals don't have language in the same way that humans do. Animals have a limited set of expressions that always focus on the here and now. Unlike humans, animals cannot 'talk' about the past or speculate about the future. Also, they can't form utterances out of smaller constituents like we do when we form sentences out of words. For animals, their vocalisations only have one meaning each.

@NicosMind Someone DID that, actually. Not with primates, but some animal was taught some stuff, & they passed it on to their young, etc... I've a terrible memory, lol!

As Fouts said, we are "human-beings and chimps are chimpanzee-beings" (paraphrased). We are specifically homo sapions and other animals are not. When it is said people are animals it is easy to understand. To say animals are people is not...unless you give it some context. Animals are not human but, they have personhood in its legal sense. Or at least they -should- have personhood in a legal sense which is to say they have very basic rights like the right to bodily integrity (not to be harmed)

Who is the ding dong that says animals don't have emotions? I will challenge him to threaten me in the presence of my terrier. He had better have insurance.

fears keeps us enslaved. I want to live in a free world where there is equality for all. in a world where no one needs to live in fear. I'm a dreamer and I will never stop dreaming.

Fear keeps us alive a lot of times as well. it's evolutionary advantageous as long as you know how to use that fear.
