I once showered and groomed this huge percheron stallion. When I put it back in the field, it started to roll in the dust and when he got up, he very distinctly smiled at me. When this same horse died, we covered it in snow to hide it from scavenging birds until we could did a hole for him. The other horses removed the snow from its head and stood around him as in mourning. And I'm not telling about seeing one of the mares masturbating.

There is a video here on YouTube about a woman psychologist who studied an ape and taught it sign-language. The most astonishing result was when the ape was able to describe what happened to it as a child. When asked it made the signs for "bright flash", "noisy", "very scared", "very sad"..... turns out he was a little baby when his mother was shot while holding him by poachers, and he was rescued as an orphan..... shows how incredible their memory is as well...

Slowly the human species is realizing that we are nothing but animals, and have a sacred duty to protect our wild betheren. As the Abrahamic religions die, so will we come closer to thi ideal.
