Jean-Pierre Jeunet is best known for directing Amelie, and this week he's back with Micmacs, his latest caper movie about a man who, after being accidentally shot, decides to take revenge on the arms manufacturers. We talked to Jeunet in London recently about the film and his career to date...

  • One of my favorite directors. The man is a visionary. His visual style, in my opinion, surpasses Spielberg. His films have a warm crinkly texture like fresh baked bread. His attention to detail for the characters and the story is on par with Hitchcock, if not better. I could go on and on about Jean-Pierre Jeunet. The world needs his movies.

  • This movie deserved more attention than it received. Compared to the huge piles of crap coming out of Hollywood, his movies are light years ahead of their time. The actor chosen, and the look of these films just reflect the genius involved.

  • My first Jeunet film was City of Lost Children, and I watched it two more times before returning it. It was worth the late fees. The guy is true genius. He's like Ernie Kovacs... he didn't pick up his first movie camera and say "I should make a movie like so-and-so," he said "Hmmm, I wonder what I could do with this..."

Jeunet and Gilliam are my favorite directors. If those two aren't personal friends, they should be. They don't think outside the box, they think outside the stratosphere.

  • Love every movie Jean-Pierre has ever released. Hope there are many more to come.

  • Love yer stuff what a genius film maker. Love the cast of MicMacs. Keep 'em coming

  • Wonderwoman - I think he is married to a lovely brunette

  • Un genio total Jeunet !!!

  • I want to meet you Jean-Pierre. I'm sure you're loaded but let me buy you a drink anyway : )

Jean-Pierre, je voudrais te rencontrer! je sais que vous soyez riche, mais puis-je vous offrir un verre?
