Heres a ton of cool stuff out in Northwest Indiana on my b-day. A second compilation will follow this one with shots at Blue Island later in the evening.

The first stop I made was at Griffith Junction, an all CN junction where the Former EJ&E Eastern/Matteson Subdivision crosses over the GTW Elsden Subdivision. In the old days, C&O and Erie mainlines ran through here. An EJ&E branch to Porter Junction and a Conrail branch to Joliet were here too. Most of the tracks for the C&O and Erie are gone, with a small segment of the Erie remaining to the North which served as an industrial spur for the EJ&E. The spur is now abandoned since the switch was removed between it and the main. A segment of the C&O still remains to the South in active service as a spur leading to an industrial site. A tower once stood between the EJ&E and GTW, but was moved North of the junction after it was closed. Now it belongs to the Griffith Historical Society along with the old GTW depot, some EJ&E cars, a speeder, and other relics.
9:20AM-
The first train to roll through the junction was on the CN/EJ&E, Westbound Stateline empties.
