Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlGSlMXFSFk
In two Parts. This is my documentary on my experiences with Brachial Plexus or Erb's Palsy in my left arm. It was created as a part of my grade 12 film art course in hopes that it would be used as an informative and encouraging documentary to families also dealing with this obstetrical nerve injury. It explores my many experiences with Brachial Plexus Palsy through following a trip to the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children as well as my life story of my experiences both past and present.

  • Are you arms the same length. I have erb's palsy and one arm is shorter than the other.

  • @toothybrushman Yup my left arm is a good couple inches shorter and thinner as well

  • Hi, I have erb's palsy in my left arm too i have almost the EXACT same disabilities as you, i was a big baby with the cord around my neck during birth . I have trouble lifting my arm and straightening it forwards. Lifting stuff is also a problem. My biggest problem and question is, how do you cope with people's insults and discrimination? Thanks and all the best.

  • @MTLXY Hey MTLXY, I'll try my best to answer although I haven't received a LOT discrimination towards my injury, but I know it to be a challenging thing for sure when it does happen.

What I have experienced, for the most part, is that once people understand what it is and see that I am ok with it, they are usually pretty respectful. So help them to see your arm as less of a disability and focus on the positives. People pick up on those attitudes. Help them understand your injury as well and

  • importantly that it doesn't make you any less of a person. Kind of like a friend (if i may) with a knee brace. It ONLY changes the way the might run.

Also, do those things you want that your arm might discourage, and modify it for you. People will see this, and hopefully respect it. And it will help you cope as well as you work around the injury. I hope this helps. it's obviously easier for me to say, but i hope this can give you at least some encouragement.

    god bless

  • it has seemed to work too :)

  • @Emsmiles14 same, mine is thinner too. That is honestly the most annoying part for me, becuase ive grown use to movement drawbacks, but one being shorter makes wearing any kind of long sleeve clothing annoying
