The Diamond Tool Holder (AKA Tangential Tool Holder) by Eccentric Engineering is a great tool for the amateur metalworking enthusiast. It's extremely simple to use and produces exceptional results.

  • Hello, Could you post a heavy roughing cut in some gnarley steel and also with some tougher stock (4140)? DOC as far as you can?

  • @J800613 I don't have any 4140 or anything else that's tuff or gummy to work with. I avoid difficult materials. I also have a smaller hobby lathe with a 1hp motor. So a 0.050 cut is pushing the limits on my machine, but not the limits of the tool. So even if I had more difficult to machine material I couldn't really take a more aggressive cut without bogging down my lathe. There should be other videos online that show a heavier cut. If not, write to the manufacturer. They might have more info.

  • Very nice holder. Thanks for sharing...

  • @daywalker627 Thanks! I've been really happy with it. Once you use one you'll use it 10 times more often than a conventional cantilever style tool holder.

  • I have used this type tool holder atleast 8 years. I purchased it from the folks at village press. You can actually cut towards the tailstock with some learnings.
