This isn't very exciting, but the story makes you think. I admit I made some pre-judgements. Hearing what actually happened, and seeing the driver return made me re-think my judgements.
He and his female passenger were driving down the freeway and their car wasn't shifting up. So it overheated, they pulled over, and apparently thought the car was on fire, or it really was on fire. Well they both left the car there and tried to use a phone at nearby businesses. Apparently that made the police think he was trying to hide something in his car, or just hide from police. When he returned and explained that he was just trying to use a phone, probably to call the fire department, they put the cuffs on him for several minutes. Then they eventually uncuffed him and let him go. His mistake seems to have just been leaving the car unattended. He could've just waited for the police, since people on the freeway could easily see the smoke, and many of those drivers have cellphones. He also chose to take an armload of his possessions with him, which made it look like he was trying to hide something.
Apparently he and his female companion were just having a real bad day, that's all.
Thanks for watching!
